I've been working as an Education Adovcate for AT&T California for years. Now, I will be supporting AT&T teams in many states.
For those of you that don't know me, here is a little walk down memory lane.
I started with Pacific Bell in 1992 as an Intern in the Education Group. At the end of the semester, I was part of a presentation on uses of Internet in education that resulted in funding for summer training.
Summer training involved 2 high school labs being hooked to the Internet, and training staff on telnet, email, usenet newsgroups and FTP. I was then hired on as a consultant to work with staff at those schools. I've been working with Pacific Bell/SBC/AT&T ever since.
What have I been doing all these years?
- Training teachers at a variety of schools across California that were new to the Internet. I trained on Macs and PCs (even DoOS), for K-14. teachers and administrators.
- I worked with the California Voter Foundation to put up the first California Online Voter Guide in 1994. The guide was Gopher-based.
- As part of Pacific Bell Education First, I trained thousands of teachers on online resources available on Pacific Bell's KNE. You might know a few...Blue Web'n, Filamentality, and Videoconferencing for Learning.
- Videoconferencing, which meant sometimes carrying a big trunk with a Vistium videoconferencing system and a PC.
- Training hundreds of California Community College staff on the using PictureTel videoconferencing.
- Creating online resources on KNE included informational pages about E-rate and CTF. That lead to my next specialty, E-rate and CTF Specialist for SBC/AT&T West.
After years as the E-rate/CTF Specialist, instructional technologies called me back.
- With AT&T, I have been training and educating administrators and teachers on 21st century technologies:
- Web 2.0 in the classroom
- Cell phones in education
- CyberSafety for K12
- VideoStreaming
- K12 Business Continuity
- Technologies for Professional Development
Workshops 8-10 to be added soon.
